All big things start out small, they say. With that in mind, welcome to my teeny tiny website, and let's hope it grows into something beautiful! It took me a couple of days to figure everything out. I decided to go with weebly.com since I don't feel like diving in too deep yet with webcoding etc. Weebly takes care of all that so I can worry about content only.
For now I will focus on my upcoming trip to Victoria / Vancouver. This May I will attend CSEE 2017, the Canadian Society for Ecology & Evolution Meeting 2017 in Victoria (Vancouver Island). Afterwards, I will travel to Vancouver to join Misty MacDuffee and David Scott in the field. They are Vancouver based ecologists studying juvenile salmon species abundance, growth and habitat use in the Fraser River estuary. I got in contact with them through email and will meet them there for the first time, which has me pretty excited! Through them, I hope to gain more experience in ecological fieldwork, as this is a part of my own development as a biologist which has lagged behind since I decided to focus on education/interpretation as my primary field of work. This is the trip of a lifetime for me! I'm incredibly thankful to my school for allowing me to go and explore through our 'Teacher's Internship' program. Ever since I first traveled to British Columbia in 2007 I have been completely in love, and I have always wished for an opportunity to contribute to the ecology of that beautiful province. When the opportunity arose, you better believe I grabbed on with both hands! I have never written a blog, nor have I had any formal training in writing (let alone writing in English!), so please bear with me while I collect my experiences here, and I'll try to become a better writer in the process. I hope you will enjoy following me along. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think, or how I can improve this blog/website. CSEE 2017 website
